Ajinkya Rahane & Ruturaj Gaikwad

Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants engaged in an incredible contest. While Chennai posted an impressive total of 177 runs, this wasn’t enough to secure victory as Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul both were dismissed within five overs, which put immense pressure on Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran’s batsmen to score runs quickly enough for victory. Their strong partnership eventually saw them reach their target with more than an over to spare!

Matt Henry bowls the third over, starting it off with a single as Gaikwad gets on strike and drives on his front foot towards covers for four runs, before hitting one down to short third for another four, culminating in two fours from Matt’s delivery. A double ends the over.

Ajinkya Rahane was back on strike as he chased down an ambitious target, smashing another six off long on. A single followed, as Ajinkya closed in on 100 before lofting one over long on for maximum and just needed another hit to reach his goal – this thrilling encounter between two teams who had previously met three times during IPL history was truly memorable!

KL Rahul & Quinton de Kock

KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock combined for an unprecedented opening stand of 210 runs in their IPL opener against KKR – making it the highest first-wicket partnership ever seen in IPL history! Rahul scored an unforgettable hundred while de Kock contributed with half-centuries.

At Chennai, they produced an inspired middle overs batting performance – both batted long and kept the scoreboard moving, ultimately helping LSG reach an respectable total.

Once Rohit Sharma’s team entered the hunt, however, things quickly changed. With their home side having an advantage when it came to bowling, Rohit’s side made quick work of scoring runs at an efficient rate and managed to seal victory with one over to spare in 17th over.

Nicholas Pooran starts bowling the penultimate over. On his first ball he gets a single, before mistiming and taking a dot ball; with the next delivery hitting towards midwicket for another run and eventually shuffling down crease and hitting four past backward point for FOUR!!!!! That brings the deficit down to eight runs off 16 balls!

MS Dhoni & Ravindra Jadeja

MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja have taken to the field to open up for Chennai Super Kings on a slow left-arm bowling pitch that should offer excellent opportunities to spinners.

Jadeja attempts a powerful shot off the first ball but misses, producing a dot ball. On his second delivery he sweeps it through square leg and finds the boundary for four runs! Three more runs and the over is over!

Next time around, Pathirana pitches it a bit short and beats out Stoinis for a single. On third strike, however, Stoinis attempted to cut but got stopped by the fielder at point before attempting to hit through the covers but failed. Dot ball.

Stoinis hit it to long-on for a single. Nicholas Pooran is currently batting number three for LSG.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane were in excellent form for LSG as they scored 174 in their opening innings, helped by some outstanding batting by Marcus Stoinis who hit an outstanding 106 off 62 balls – an exceptional effort by LSG that allowed them to outwit an outstanding Chennai side at fortress Chepauk and take fourth spot in the table with this victory; their chances of qualifying for quarter-finals remain strong as do players such as Yash Thakur, Matheesha Pathirana and Moeen Ali in their squad.

Deepak Chahar & Daryl Mitchell

Deepak Chahar caused havoc for CSK with his uncapped deliveries last time out against LSG and looks set to continue his impressive form against them on Tuesday. Already this season he has taken six wickets out of two matches played and can add yet another to his total on Tuesday.

Chahar has impressed with his pace, swing and accuracy, showing some maturity on the field and becoming an invaluable member of the Super Kings squad.

Ruturaj Gaikwad made two changes to his side ahead of this match with Moeen Ali coming in for Daryl Mitchell and Chahar taking Shardul Thakur’s place. Ruturaj will hope his side can perform to its potential and return to winning ways after their previous encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders in which they fell by three wickets.

Gaikwad’s decision to bowl first paid dividends, as he restricted LSG to just 77 runs. Ajinkya Rahane led LSG with 29 balls. After starting well and hitting two copybook square drives off Arshdeep Singh to race towards the boundary quickly, however he soon ran out of steam before being caught at deep midwicket by Rilee Russouw. Shivam Dube was caught leg before by Chahar thereby jeopardizing their hopes for a large total.
